SERVICES
I offer individual psychiatric medication management to adults, as well as individual psychotherapy ("talk therapy"), romantic partner/family therapy, and group therapy. Feel free to inquire about current therapy groups with openings at my practice.
Currently I only have openings for telepsychiatry patients who are able to videoconference from a location within NY state during telepsychiatry sessions, and I can only prescribe to patients in NY state.
INSURANCE:
I currently accept Aetna Commercial Manhattan, Aetna Student Plan Manhattan, Centivo, and UMR Top Tier (Mount Sinai Employees) insurance plans for family therapy and romantic partners therapy. I also accept self-pay.
I do not participate in any other insurance plans, however I will work with you to submit paperwork for out-of network benefits if your insurance plan covers this.
Neuropsychological testing is not a service I currently offer. I do not provide psychiatric assessments for criminal cases, suitability-for-work evaluations, or educational accommodations at this time. For starting controlled substance prescriptions, state laws usually require an in-person evaluation by a doctor, which my current practice is not equipped to support at this time. We may expand to in-person services in the future.
APPROACH
SCHEDULING YOUR APPOINTMENT
The first time you reach out to schedule your appointment, we will set up a brief initial phone conversation (~15 minutes, free of charge) about what you are looking for in treatment, and whether I am a good fit for your needs. After the phone call if you would like to schedule a full consultation, you will be emailed some forms to complete before our first consultation meeting.
INITIAL CONSULTATION
Intake evaluations will take 45-60 minutes, depending on the complexity of issues being addressed. I will listen to your story carefully and ask clarifying questions in order to collect a thorough medical and psychiatric history. After a thorough evaluation I may recommend psychotherapy, medications or a combination of both. Medication prescriptions are sometimes but not always written in the first session. Psychotherapy will usually begin in the second or third session after an initial history has been collected. If desired/applicable, we may also discuss eligibility for group therapy or family therapy/romantic partner therapy (often called 'couples therapy', though I also welcome partnership arrangements that do not fall under the traditional couple category).
My psychotherapy training has included psychodynamic psychotherapy, trauma-informed therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I will draw upon these modalities to tailor your treatment specifically for your needs. In addition, I strive to provide gender-affirming, sex-positive, ace/aro-affirming, queer-friendly care, that is welcoming of intersectional and minority identities.
